Lady Bug, Sarracenia x Lady Bug, is a stout cultivar with fat, upright, green and apple red pitchers. The flaring hoods are rounded, wide open, and an almost solid rufous red. The backs of the pitchers are laced with red veins around white areoles (windows), providing a spotted look. It attracts lots of insect activity with nectar glands around the red lips. It is very vigorous and readily forms dense colonies. It prefers open, sunny boggy conditions, and holds its color into the frost. The small flowers are very numerous, red and spicy fragrant. They generally bloom mid-season. This charmer will add color and grace to your bog garden. Lady Bug is a complex cultivar S. (psittacina x purpurea) x minor. It is one of the Bug Series, compact/stout growers, from the Horticultural Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Named after the hood's superficial resemblance to the name sake insect.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers. Photographs are representative of the cultivar, and not the specific plant shipped.
