Description:

Vocal group best known for the smash hit "My Cousin Lana," featuring 17 singles! The Velvets are a vocal group formed in Odessa, Texas by a middle school teacher and her students. M-6 and M-10, written by Orbison, were especially big hits in Japan, and many Western music fans of yesteryear may be able to sing along with them. This CD contains all singles released from Monument to 1966. In addition to the originals, the CD also features covers of Darrell Glenn's M-13 and Shirley & Lee's classic M-16, both well-known songs sung by the Orioles and others. The sophisticated chorus, backed by gorgeous strings, is wonderful. Note the design that pays homage to the cover of the domestic 7-inch single. Commentary: Osamu Kamata
